On April 20th in Dungarvan over 600 ducks will race for the top prize and raise vital funds for lifesaving operations at the RNLI. As the date for the RNLI International Duck Race nears, competitors from around the world have been preparing for the big event. RNLI Helvick & Dungarvan lifeboat station has received training reports from some of the big names, including some photos from recent training sessions.
Nikos Quackopoulos from Kalamata Greece is new to duck racing but has very high hopes to be on the podium at the RNLI International Duck Race in five days.
Akira Quackamura from Tokyo has been putting in huge miles this year in anticipation of this year’s RNLI International Duck Race in Dungarvan. We received these inspiring training photos. Akira will be joining us on April 20th to compete with over 600 other ducks for the 1st place prize.
Duck Norris from Dallas Texas is looking forward to the upcoming RNLI International Duck Race on April 20th in Dungarvan. His partners will looks after the ranch while he competes against hundreds of other ducks for the top prize!
Carlos Cuacko García is returning to Dungarvan to once again put his effort to winning the RNLI International Duck Race. We’re receiving reports that his training has been exceptional and he could be a top contender this year.
Quackie Chan from Tianjin China told us that he’s aiming for the top prize at this year’s RNLI International Duck Race.
For athletes like Juliette Canardot, rest is just as important as intense training. She’s enjoying a cafe au lait today and meeting with friends. But tomorrow, it’s back to the pond for some interval training with her coach! We’ll see her on April 20th for the RNLI International Duck Race.
Purchasing ducks
Ducks for the upcoming RNLI International Duck Race (April 20th) can be purchased from Kelly’s Pharmacy (Abbeyside), Spar (An Rinn), and from RNLI Helvick fundraising committee members Ann (087 970 4830) and Dolores (087 174 0141). There will also be an RNLI stall on Davitt’s Quay selling ducks on April 20th prior to the event. Ducks cost €3 each or €5 for two ducks.
