Volunteers at RNLI Helvick Head lifeboat station have extended their thanks to the members of Tried & Tested Triathlon Club, Dungarvan, following the success of their Annual Aquathlon, which took place on Friday, 15 August 2025.
The event, billed as “a fantastic fundraiser for those who work tirelessly to keep us safe at sea”, brought together club members, families, and friends for a challenging and enjoyable evening. Participants took part in a choice of 250m, 500m or 750m swims, followed by either a 3k or 5k run, with a lively post-event BBQ rounding off the celebrations.
Through entry fees and generous support on the night, the event raised €1,000 for RNLI Helvick Head, helping to fund the station’s volunteer lifeboat crew and their lifesaving work.
Seamus Kiersey, Hon Secretary of the RNLI Helvick Fundraising Committee, said:
“The Triathlon Club have shown year after year how much they value the work of our volunteer crew, and we’re truly grateful for their support. An event like this not only raises vital funds, but also highlights the strong link between the sea, sport, and our community. It’s heartening to see so many people come together to support the RNLI while enjoying such a fantastic evening.”
The RNLI relies on donations and fundraising events like this to power its lifesaving service. The crew at Helvick Head remain on call 24/7, ready to launch to those in need.
