An invitation to the community to visit, meet the crew, and celebrate local fundraising efforts
The volunteers of RNLI Helvick Head Lifeboat Station are inviting everyone to join them for a special Open Day on Sunday, 9 November, from 11:00am to 5:00pm at the lifeboat station in Helvick.
The event promises a great family day out, featuring a BBQ burger cookout, stalls with official RNLI merchandise, tea and coffee, and the chance to tour the station and meet some of the volunteer crew who keep our coastline safe. There will also be a dog show, adding a friendly bit of competition to the day’s activities.
This Open Day is not only a chance to enjoy good food and great company—it’s also an opportunity for the public to see first-hand how their donations help the RNLI save lives at sea.
“The RNLI depends entirely on voluntary donations and community support,” said Seamus Kiersey, Hon Secretary RNLI Helvick Fundraising Committee. “Our Open Day is a way to say thank you to everyone who supports us, and to show what their generosity makes possible.”
The station also wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Helvick Swimmers, who trained tirelessly throughout the summer for the annual Helvick Swim event. Although this year’s swim was cancelled several times due to weather and sea conditions, the swimmers continued to raise vital funds for the lifeboat service.
“Their dedication and community spirit never wavered,” added Mr Kiersey. “We wanted to acknowledge their efforts and continued support despite an unfortunate series of cancellations”
All proceeds from the BBQ, merchandise sales, and dog show will go directly to supporting the RNLI Helvick Head Lifeboat Station and its lifesaving work.
