Final Preparations Underway for the 30th Annual RNLI Helvick Swim

An Rinn, Co. Waterford — Final preparations are well underway for the 30th Annual RNLI Helvick Swim, taking place this Sunday, July 6th. RNLI volunteers are working around the clock to coordinate the popular open-water event, which raises vital funds to support the charity’s life-saving services.

The challenging 4km swim will see participants depart from Ballinacourty and make their way along a marked route across Dungarvan Bay, finishing at the Helvick Head RNLI Lifeboat Station. As always, safety remains the top priority, with a comprehensive support plan in place — including lifeboat crews, a kayaker support flotilla, RIBs, and shore teams monitoring the course throughout.

Spectators and supporters are warmly encouraged to gather at Helvick Pier from 1:30pm to cheer on the swimmers as they complete the crossing. Festivities on the pier will include a BBQ, Dog Show, Raffle, and the beloved King & Queen of Helvick competition. The event promises to be a memorable day for the whole community, combining sporting achievement with a celebration of three decades of lifesaving dedication in Helvick.

All proceeds from the swim go directly towards supporting the RNLI’s essential work in saving lives at sea.

Kevin O’Morchoe, Honorary Chairman of the RNLI Helvick Fundraising Committee, said:
“This year marks an incredible milestone for the Helvick Swim, and we’re so proud of what the community has achieved over the past 30 years. The commitment of our volunteers, swimmers, and supporters continues to be truly inspiring. We look forward to welcoming everyone to what promises to be another fantastic day in support of a vital cause.”
