“Hundreds of ducks from around the world are in the final stages of training for this years’ event on the 20th April, during the West Waterford Festival of Food” said RNLI International Duck Race race organiser Kevin O’Morchoe. “We’re receiving reports that there will be fierce competition for the top place”.
There are prizes arranged for the winning ducks, which can be sponsored for €3 or €5 for two. Become a duck sponsor at local Dungarvan and An Rinn shops. There will also be a stall on Davitt’s Quay near the Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club selling duck sponsorships on the day of the event. All proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting critical operations at the RNLI.
The ducks are provisionally scheduled to enter the water at 2:45pm near Devonshire Bridge. Join RNLI Helvick & Dungarvan branch on their Facebook page “Helvick Head & Dungarvan RNLI” and on their website rnlihelvickswim.ie for more details.
