The countdown has begun for the celebrations of the 26th Annual Helvick Swim in aid of Helvick Head Lifeboat Station. The event is scheduled for Saturday September 18th, and will be fully compliant with up-to-date government and HSE guidelines regarding COVID-19.

The Helvick Swim event has grown enormously in popularity over the years and has become a huge community event, attracting swimmers and visitors to Helvick in the Waterford Gaeltacht on the mouth of Dungarvan Bay from all over Ireland and beyond.

The spectacle of the swimmers accompanied by a safety flotilla of kayakers, ribs and other boats swimming along the marked course across Dungarvan Bay from Ballinacourty will be quite a sight, and as they swim into Helvick Pier.

To take on the Helvick Swim Challenge requires bravery, strength and dedication.

2km or 4km Sponsored Swim

Registered Swimmers can choose a distance that suits their ability and preference. Swimmers are expected to be experienced in open water swimming.

As a sponsored swim event, registered swimmers are expected to raise their entry free by means of a sponsorship form. Proceeds from this event directly fund operations at the RNLI.

Of course none of this would be possible without the huge commitment of time and effort by all the volunteers and the generous sponsorship from local and national businesses and the local media who come on board for this fantastic community event in support of the brave crew of the Helvick Lifeboat Station who are always ready to answer the call to save lives at sea 24-7-365.
